The third Grand Slam tournament of the season, Wimbledon (London, England / July 1~14, grass court), kicked off the opening match of the men’s singles on Centre Court, where third seed Carlos Alcaraz (Spain) defeated qualifier Marc Layal (Estonia) 7-6(3) 7-5 6-2 in the first round of the men’s singles, which was the opening match on Centre Court.
In a two-hour, 22-minute battle, the 21-year-old Alcaraz withstood a free-hitting, aggressive performance from Lajal to record a 7-6(3), 7-5, 6-2 victory at the grass-court major and advanced to the second round.
