New Delhi: A High-Level Delegation comprising of 15 Women Entrepreneurs from Antarprerana Pvt. Ltd. and International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) from Nepal and Bhutan visited Amity University Uttar Pradesh, with the objective of regional cross-learning and exploring the avenues, opportunities and scope of Women Entrepreneurship.
Speaking about “Scaling up and Strengthening Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Bhutan and Nepal”, Ms. Anu Joshi Shrestha, Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) averred, “ICIMOD works to improve on the lives and livelihoods of men, women, and children of the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region and protecting mountain environments and cultures of this region, by way of sharing knowledge with the people to make them more resilient. This helps them to make the best use of the opportunities provided to them and prepares them for change, which further strengthens regional cooperation for conservation and sustainable mountain development.”
She further added, “We are here today to explore numerous opportunities for women entrepreneurship with Amity and would like to collaborate in the areas of research and innovation, science and technology, food and hospitality and other similar areas by making Amity our knowledge partner and seeking support from Amity to encourage women entrepreneurship. With the onset of the Pandemic, a lot of new opportunities for entrepreneurship have emerged for women and uncertainties of the future have kindled the flame of entrepreneurship amongst them. We would also like to collaborate with Amity for the Himalayan University Consortium, which contributes to enhanced collaboration among universities and other knowledge generating institutions within and outside the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region.”
Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, stated, “Due to economic progress, better access to education, urbanization, liberal and democratic culture, there has been a tremendous growth in woman entrepreneurship in India. Various schemes of the government like Start-up India also promote entrepreneurial drive among women. We, at Amity, would like to explore the opportunities of collaboration in capacity building, hospitality, food technology, management studies and various other areas, with the delegation. Amity keeps conducting women entrepreneurship programmes to support our female students and through Amity Innovation Incubator, we facilitate raising funds, interacting with Venture Capitalist and help establish businesses which is imperative for nation-building and economic development of our country.”
On this occasion, several sessions on “Entrepreneurial and Mentoring System and E-Cell Activities at Amity’, ‘Incubation Process, Practices and Mentorship Mechanism’: A Govt. of India Perspective’, ‘Women Entrepreneurship and Innovation and Enabling Support System’ and ’Entrepreneurial Opportunities for starting business in India’, amongst others, were conducted by the Senior faculty members and Head of Institutions of Amity and the visit concluded with a Campus Tour of Amity.
