12th meeting of BRICS National Security Advisors to be held virtually

New Delhi: The 12th meeting of BRICS National Security Advisors (NSA) will be held today virtually. Announcing this at a regular press briefing in Beijing on Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said that Yang Jiechi, a member of the political bureau of the CPC Central Committee will chair the meeting in Beijing which will be attended by the NSAs of Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa.

He said that the meeting of BRICS NSAs is an important platform for BRICS countries to enhance political and security cooperation. He said, at the upcoming meeting, NSAs of the five BRICS countries will have an in-depth exchange of views, coordinate positions and build consensus on a range of issues including multilateralism and global governance, new threats and challenges in national security and governance in new domains.

As the current BRICS chair, China looks forward to working with fellow BRICS members to achieve positive results in this meeting to consolidate political mutual trust, deepen political and security cooperation, uphold the five countries’ security and development interests and contribute to world peace and stability, Wang said.
