Kathmandu. For the 12th Nepal Africa Film Festival-2024, 28 films, documentaries and short films from 10 countries including Nepal have been selected.
Organized by College of Journalism and Mass Communication and Sintika Creation and co-organized by Film Development Board, the festival will be held in Kathmandu on June 7-9.
8 African films from 9 countries have been selected for the festival, namely South Africa, Egypt, Tanzania, Turkey, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Mauritius, and Jamaica. In which there are two films namely ‘Fools’ and ‘The Chessler’, two documentaries namely ‘We Have Never Been Kids’ and ‘White Potion’. Similarly, there are four short films namely ‘Dineez’, ‘Offspring’, Survivor’ and ‘Ignorance is a Lifestyle’.
According to the organizers, 8 African films have been selected for the festival as more than 4 dozen African films, short films and documentaries from more than 15 countries have been received.
Similarly, among the Nepali and tribal films selected for the festival are “Sari Mum”, “Kandetaar”, “Gorkha Warrior”, “Sanakhat”, “Afnai Karma”, “Lojima” and “Rit”. Similar documentaries include “Journey to Gokyo,” “Kancho Vayu” and “Chasing the Dream.”
The selected Nepali short films are “Cigarette,” “Aama,” “Aina,” “Dhukdhuki,” “Ghatero,” “Hey Dev,” “Jutta,” “Marriage Day,” “Motherhood” and “Rotten Blood”.
President of the festival and principal of College of Journalism and Mass Communication Dr. Manju Mishra said that she has been continuously organizing this festival since 13 years ago to connect two different continents through film along with the culture exchange between Nepal and Africa.
Director of the festival, Dabbu Kshatri, said that along with the film screening, the festival will also have three days of special workshops and interaction programs on acting.
