3rd Investment Summit: government Inviting letters of intent in 20 projects for investment

Kathmandu. In the third investment conference starting from today, letters of intent will be invited from investors for various 20 projects.

It is going to call for letters of intent from domestic and foreign investors through the investment conference for the projects that have been identified and the pre-feasibility study has been completed and the initial stage of development work has already been carried out. Here are the details of these 20 projects for which letters of intent will be called for investment, along with their current status and cost estimates.

Dhulikhel Medicity project
In Kavrepalanchok District Dhulikhel Municipality, Dhulikhel Medicity project has been conceptualized as a super specialty hospital and a proposal has been prepared. The proposed cost of this project is Rs.11 billion. The government plans to build this project with the aim of providing expert and quality healthcare services along with modern technology. The goal of the project is to establish a world-class medical center and develop it as a hub for medical tourism. Specialist services such as heart, orthopedics, neurology, cancer treatment, cosmetic surgery will be provided from this hospital.

Sudur paschim Public Transport Project
This project will improve the traffic conditions of Kailali, Kanchanpur and Doti districts under Sudurpaschim Province. One hundred and seventy-two buses (68 diesel buses, one hundred and four electric buses) and 47 bus stops have been proposed in the project. There will be 21 stops from Dhangadhi to Chisapani, four from Tikapur-Lamki, 10 from Gaddachouki to Attaria and 12 from Attaria to Doti. Petrol pumps and charging stations will also be placed in between. Its proposed cost is Rs 31 billion 13 crore. The goal of this project is to be completed within three years from the start of construction.

The  Sudur paschim Public Transport Project has emphasized on transport infrastructure. It is planned to start this project in Sudurpaschim Province to address the existing challenges such as transport system and traffic congestion and to address existing challenges such as poor urban infrastructure. A pre-feasibility study was conducted in the year 2023 to operate electric buses and upgrade transport facilities in Far West.

Naumure Multipurpose Project
Naumure multi-purpose project has been proposed for hydropower generation and irrigation. The cost of this project is estimated at Rs 92 billion. This project with a total production capacity of 281.04 MW covers three hydroelectric schemes. The project has Naumure 9218.34 MW, Lamatal 98 MW and Suraina 954.7 MW.

Along with the Kapilvastu irrigation system, it also covers the existing irrigation system of Deukhuri valley. Through this project, 42,766 hectares of arable land in Banke district and 29,736 hectares of arable land in Kapilvastu will be irrigated.

Khimti Those Shivalaya Reservoir Hydroelectric Project
The Khimti Those Shivalaya Reservoir project with a power generation capacity of 1,216 MW is located on the border of Dolakha and Ramechhap districts. This is one of the largest hydroelectric projects in Nepal. The proposed cost estimate of this project is equal to two billion 89.77 billion rupees.

Humla Karnali hydropower project
Humla Karnali Hydropower Project has an electricity generation capacity of 61.2 megawatts and this project can produce 390.29 gigawatt hours of energy annually. This project is in Namkha Rural Municipality of Humla. Vehicles have not been able to reach this rural municipality from Nepal until now. However, the Hilsa-Simikot road section built from the Tibet Autonomous Region border crossing has been built in Hilsa. The estimated cost of this project is Rs 14.7 billion.

Upper Chamelia Hydropower Project
The power generation capacity of Upper Chamelia Hydropower Project in Apihimal Rural Municipality of Darchula District is 53.85 MW. It is estimated that 319.21 gigawatt hours of energy will be produced annually, and the cost of this project is Rs. 11.9 billion.

Panchkhaal Special Economic Zone
This project is a strategic initiative for economic development and promotion in Panchkhaal municipality of Kavrepalanchok district. The aim of this project is to increase the export capacity of the Panchkhaal region by establishing the Panchkhaal Special Economic Zone (SEZ) to attract domestic and foreign investment and encourage employment. The proposed investment of this project is one billion 57 million. Its feasibility has already been studied in the year 2069.

Kavadikhola Hydropower Project
The cost of the Kavadikhola hydropower project with a total production capacity of 30 megawatts is estimated to be Rs. 6.41 billion. This project, which is located in Himali Rural Municipality of Bajura and Tanjakot Rural Municipality of Humla, is expected to give return on investment in 10 years. It is proposed to develop this project under the construction-operation-transfer 9boot0 model under public private partnership. This project, which has a feasibility study in 2020, has been proposed by the Electricity Development Department for Sokes. The environmental impact assessment of the project has been completed.

Kaligandaki-2 Reservoir Hydroelectric Project
Kaligandaki-2 Reservoir hydropower project proposed to be built in Tanahun, Palpa, Nawarpur and Syangja districts will have a power generation capacity of 650 megawatts. 10 thousand nine hundred and 34 hectares of land will be required for this project, which is estimated to cost Rs. The financial management framework of this project has been proposed so that it remains self-funded. The project’s pre-feasibility study has been completed, and the environmental impact assessment is set to be completed by 2025.

Bharbung Reservoir Hydroelectric Project
The Bharbung Reservoir hydropower project, estimated to cost Rs 80.12 billion with a production capacity of 377.1 megawatts, has also been placed in ‘Sokes’ to request a letter of intent through the investment conference. It is proposed to build this project which requires a total of 100 hectares of land on Thuliberi river in Dolpa. The project’s pre-feasibility study has been completed and the feasibility study and environmental impact assessment work can also be completed within the year 2024.

Tom Dogar Budhigandaki Hydroelectric Project
As a 9ROR project based on river flow with a total power generation capacity of 40.02 megawatts, Tom Dogar Budhigandaki hydropower project is also going to be put up for solicitation through the investment conference for the letter of intent. The total cost of this hydropower project is estimated at Rs 80 billion 120 million. The electricity development department has done the pre-feasibility study of this project to be Chumanubri rural municipality of Gorkha district.

Super Budhigandaki Hydropower Project
It has been proposed to be placed in the investment conference through the Power Development Department for the call for letters of intent for the Super Budhigandaki hydropower project proposed to be built in Gorkha district. The cost of this hydropower project with a total production capacity of 34.93 megawatts is estimated at Rs 7.34 billion.

Pokhara International Convention Center and Exhibition Center
According to the Investment Board, the estimated cost of the Pokhara International Convention and Exhibition Center project is Rs 3.72 billion. This project is going to be put on the market with the goal of raising investment through the investment conference. The proposed project aims to build an international conference and exhibition center in Pokhara. This project aims to operate a five-star hotel, restaurant, museum and children’s garden. In this project, it is proposed to have an amphitheater that can accommodate five hundred people, two exhibition halls, a five-star hotel (two hundred rooms), a restaurant and food court, a museum and souvenir room, a children’s garden, a conference hall that can accommodate three thousand people, and a picnic area.

In the context that Pokhara is full of natural beauty and is becoming a center of tourist attraction, it is necessary to conduct such projects to increase tourists. According to the board, the main features of the project are the ability to provide state-of-the-art service facilities, museums and cultural attractions, entertainment areas, 18 km distance from the international airport, environment-friendly design and operation.

Daiji Industrial Area
In the conference, a letter of intent is also going to be requested from investors for the ‘Daiji Industrial Area’ project. The estimated cost of this industrial sector is Rs 8.6 billion. Industrial Area Management Limited has selected this project to be presented at the conference along with the cost and objective outline. Construction of Daiji Industrial Zone has been proposed for industrialization in Far West Province. This industrial zone aims to improve industrial production and productivity and utilize local expertise, available resources and promote exports. According to the investment board, 100 industrial plots, large vehicle parking area, administrative block, helipad, petrol pump, weighing station, water supply and fire fighting system, electrical system installation have been proposed for this project.

Babarmahal Administrative Plaza
With the goal of holding various government offices, a letter of intent is going to be requested through the investment conference for the construction of the Babarmahal administrative plaza. This project spread over a total of 30 thousand 21 square meters was proposed by the Ministry of Urban Development for development. The estimated cost of this project is Rs 10.20 billion.

Construction of Mahadev Khola Reservoir
The estimated cost of this project studied by the Ministry of Water Supply is two billion 45 million rupees. It is mentioned in the study that it is necessary to conduct this project to reduce the increasing impact of climate change. Mainly, the project aims to help ensure regular availability of water for drinking water and other domestic purposes. The goal of the project is to protect the Mahadev Khola watershed and ensure the sustainable availability of drinking water to the residents of Changunarayan Municipality and Bhaktapur Municipality in Bhaktapur. The aim is to build infrastructure for recreation around the reservoir 9Nagarkot Falls0.

Karnali Chisapani Wind Power Project
For the ‘Karnali Chisapani Wind Energy’ project of 10 megawatts, the letter of intent for investment is also going to be requested through the investment conference. The cost of the project studied by the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation and Alternative Energy Promotion Center is Rs 14.73 billion. It is mentioned in the study that the renewable energy potential of Nepal has been achieved and the share of wind energy in it is low.

Chandragiri-Chitlang-Palung-Chitwan Expressway
The estimated cost of this project, studied by the Board of Investment, is two trillion 21 billion rupees. Proposed this quick kill It aims to make the transport network from Chitwan to Kathmandu valley fast and reliable. This is also one of the big projects proposed for investment in the road infrastructure sector.

Janaki Heritage Hotel and Cultural Village
The estimated cost of this project studied by the Board of Investment is Rs 2.35 billion. This project has been proposed to develop Janakpurdham as a major tourist destination and to expand the area as tourism. It aims to develop a hotel with facilities, develop a cultural village and build a museum. It is expected that this region’s heritage, culture and tradition will be showcased as well as become a means of tourism development. The main goal of the project is to attract Indians. Taking advantage of the religious relationship between Nepal and India, the goal is to bring in tourists.

Dhowadi iron ore mining project
With the aim of excavating Dhauwadi Mine in Hupsekot Rural Municipality-5 of Nawalpur District and extracting about five lakh metric tons of steel billet (iron raw material) annually, the government has put forward the project development plan. The estimated cost of this plan is Rs 51 billion 25 crore. A feasibility study has been done in 2023 for the excavation of Dhowadi iron ore mine.

One hundred and 51 projects from different fields are being presented at the conference. Most of them are 31 projects in the energy sector. Likewise, 19 in the transport sector, 13 in the mining and mineral sector, 13 in the tourism sector, 14 in the agricultural sector, five in the manufacturing sector, seven in the industrial infrastructure and trade ‘logistics’ sector, three in the health and education sector, two in the communication and information technology sector, four in the water supply sector and There are six projects related to urban development. 31 projects proposed by the private sector are also included.
