Karachi. The rising heat has proved fatal for the people of Pakistan. More than 500 people have lost their lives in the last six days, with rising heat being the main reason. These incidents took place in southern Pakistan.
According to the Edhi Ambulance Service, 30 to 40 dead bodies are brought to the mortuary in Karachi city every day. In the last 6 days, they have collected around 568 bodies, out of which 141 bodies have been collected on Tuesday alone.
It is mentioned in the BBC report that it is difficult to say what is the cause of death of all these people. However, the number of deaths has also increased with the increase in heat. The temperature in Karachi has soared above 40°C and the humidity is so high that the temperature feels like 49°C.

Doctor Shaikh told the BBC, “Most of the people who come to the hospital are 60 or 70 years old, some are 45 years old and there are some young people as well.” All the people we saw were working outside. We have asked them to drink a lot of water and wear light clothes in the rising temperature.
The rising temperature in Pakistan last weekend was also termed as a partial heat wave. Camps and centers are being established to provide relief to people and protect them from heat waves. Many people in need of help have not reached the hospital.
Besides the rising heat, power cuts are also a major problem for the people of Karachi. Karachi is the only city in Pakistan which is struggling with heat. According to news agency Reuters, the temperature of 52.2 degrees Celsius was recorded in Karachi, the capital of Sindh province, last month.
