8 Ambassador Recommendations: Lokdarshan Regmi in India, chandra Ghimire in America

Kathmandu. The government has recommended Nepalese ambassadors for 8 countries, including India, America and the UK. The meeting held on Friday by the Council of Ministers has recommended Lokdarshan Regmi as Nepali ambassador for India, Chandra Ghimire for the US and Dr. It has been decided to recommend Vijan Pant. The former Chief Secretary Regmi was made ambassador to the UK by the government led by KP Sharma Oli. Shankardas Bairagi was made ambassador by the Oli government after he resigned, paving the way for him to be made the Chief Secretary. Appointed ambassador in January 2077, he was recalled by the government led by Sher Bahadur Deuba in October 2078. Sources informed that he was recalled before the completion of his term and has now been recommended as ambassador to India from UML quota.
Chandra Ghimire, who has been recommended as the Nepali ambassador to the US, is the former secretary. If Regmi had completed his tenure as Chief Secretary, Bairagi would have been replaced by Ghimire (after Kedar Bahadur Adhikari) as Chief Secretary. He was not involved in controversy and was considered a relatively competent secretary. But when Regmi resigned to become the ambassador, Bairagi, who was the foreign secretary, got the chance to become the chief secretary.
And Kedar Bahadur and Chandra Ghimire got the opportunity from the secretary. That is the reason why now he has been made the ambassador to America, according to sources close to UML. Vijan Pant was the Development Advisor when Sushil Koirala was the Prime Minister. Gorkha’s Pant has been recommended as an ambassador from the quota of Maoist Center, the leading party of the government.
Similarly, Sushil Pyakurel for South Korea, Sumnima Tuladhar for Denmark, Pushparaj Ranjitkar for Spain, Netra Prasad Timalsina for Malaysia and Abu Sufyan Khan have been recommended as Nepali ambassadors for Saudi Arabia.
Pyakurel, who is also a human rights activist, was an expert advisor to the then President Bidya Devi Bhandari. After the then CPN decided to appoint Agni Sapkota as Speaker, he resigned. Sumnima, who was recommended as ambassador to Denmark, is the daughter of Padmaratna Tuladhar, while Timilsana, who was recommended as ambassador to Malaysia, is the former president of Red Cross Society. Both of them became ambassadors on the recommendation of UML. Similarly, the meeting also decided to appoint Sanjiv Kumar Sharma for Australia’s New South Wales and Nirajan Gowli for Victoria as unpaid ambassadors.
