A Poem by Ahamad Sahil

He sees me as something ugly —
A scent,
A swelling emptiness,
Dried flowers buried
Beneath the floor.

He claims —
The imagination of a dead mind is futile
When life loosens it’s grip,
It has no right to smile.

After the body is gone —
All I ever spoke turns meaningless,
Even my silence falls useless,
Even the cool ashes
Of a consumed grave lose their worth.

With my death,
My thoughts no longer
Align on anything at all.

Bio of the Poet: Ahamad Sahil is a multilingual poet from Texas, USA. His poetry has been featured in several world poetry anthologies and online literary magazines. He writes across languages to explore identity, memory, and belonging.
