More than 30 homes have been destroyed or damaged by a bushfire in Dolphin Sands, Tasmania, where 19 houses were lost, and 14 were damaged. Over 120 other assets, including sheds and power infrastructure, were also affected.

Although the fire was contained by today morning, authorities warned evacuated residents that it remains unsafe to return due to hazardous trees, debris and forecast winds of up to 100 kilometres per hour. Emergency crews continue welfare checks, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Disaster payments have been activated for affected regions, while over 50 bushfires burn across New South Wales amid warnings of a high-risk summer fire season.
