MANILA — The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has appointed Hae Kyong “HK” Yu as Vice-President (Administration and Corporate Management) for a 3-year term. She will succeed Bruce Gosper, whose term ends on 31 January 2026.

Ms. Yu is expected to assume office on 2 February 2026. She will be responsible for management of the operations of ADB’s Budget, People, and Management Systems Department; Corporate Services Department; Information Technology Department; Office of Safeguards; Procurement, Portfolio, and Financial Management Department; and Office of the Secretary.

Ms. Yu has over 30 years of experience in international relations, economic policy, and strategic governance. Most recently, she served as Australian Ambassador to the Philippines, where she strengthened bilateral ties and oversaw a A$90 million ($60 million) annual development program. During her tenure, she advanced strategic partnerships, promoted inclusive growth initiatives, and deepened cooperation on regional priorities.

She has held various leadership roles in the Australian Treasury, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and has represented Australia at major global forums, including G20, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, and International Monetary Fund/World Bank Group meetings.

Ms. Yu brings extensive diplomatic experience, proven leadership in taxation and financial governance, and deep expertise in economic strategy, multilateral engagement, and crisis management. In recognition of her contributions to strengthening collaboration among governments and development partners, she has received the Order of the Sikatuna from the Philippines, the Public Service Medal from Australia, and the Order of Civil Merit from the Republic of Korea, among other honors.

Ms. Yu holds a graduate diploma in economics with distinction from the Australian National University and a master’s degree in taxation from the University of New South Wales. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Western Australia.
