Cement exports from Nepal through the Krishnanagar border surged dramatically to 274,000 tons in the first five months of the current fiscal year, up from just 20,360 tons during the same period last year. This marks a 1,245 percent increase, driven largely by India’s timely renewal of Bureau of Indian Standards (BSI) certificates and increased infrastructure activity across the border. While cement exports expanded rapidly, plywood exports declined sharply due to quality compliance issues. The Krishnanagar Customs Office collected Rs 2.8 billion in revenue, achieving 85.25 percent of its target. Coal remained the leading import item, contributing Rs 177.5 million in revenue.
