Patan : The Nepali Congress, led by Sher Bahadur Deuba, is planning to seek legal remedies against the decision made by the Election Commission.
The Election Commission on Friday decided to recognize the party leadership elected by the party’s second special general convention.

A meeting of the Central Working Committee held this morning at the party’s central office in Sanepa and chaired by Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka made this decision, party spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat said.

“The decision made unilaterally by the Election Commission on 16 January 2026 is malicious, the Commission did not even listen to us, and since the established precedent and electoral arrangements of the Commission were not followed in making this decision, we will go to the Supreme Court on Sunday for legal remedies,” Spokesperson Mahat said.
