Kathmandu : Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel has resigned from his post.

He submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Monday. In his resignation letter, Kharel said he stepped down to prevent any impact on the independent identity of the current government as he prepares to enter active party politics.

Stating that the move was made in view of national needs, long-term strengthening of the democratic system, and public expectations, Kharel said he now intends to play an active and responsible role through party politics.
