Pakistan star batter Babar Azam ended his Big Bash League (BBL) 2025-26 campaign early after his franchise Sydney Sixers, confirmed his recall to Pakistan’s national camp on Thursday.

His departure comes amid severe criticism and poor form in the tournament.

Babar managed only 202 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 103, a performance far below expectations. His struggles on the field coincided with reported friction with teammate Steve Smith, adding to the pressure. Former Australian cricketer Mark Waugh openly criticised Babar’s form, advising the Sixers to drop him from the playing XI. Waugh said the team relied almost entirely on Smith and that Babar had not delivered at the top of the order.
