Jerusalem. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency has reported that nearly one million people have been displaced in the first seven days of the conflict in Gaza.
Juliet Touma, UNRWA’s director of communications, told AFP, “An estimated 1 million people have been displaced in the first seven days of the ongoing war in Gaza.”
“The number is likely to increase as people continue to leave their homes,” officials from UNRWA, which is assisting Palestinian refugees, said.
Israel has been attacking Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip since an attack by an Islamic militant group in the southern part of Israel on October 7 killed more than 1,300 people.
More than 2,300 people have died in Israeli airstrikes targeting Hamas leaders, fighters and their hideouts in Gaza. (RASS/AFP)
