Nepal, India and China are connected by Tamor Corridor

Fungling. India and China are connected by the project of national pride, Tamor Corridor.
China and India have been connected through the Tamor Corridor after the ‘break through’ of the road connecting China through the Tiptala Pass on Tuesday evening.

Four years ago, Allied China had extended the road to the Olangchungola area of Paktanglung rural municipality-7 through Tiptala pass at an altitude of 5,200 meters above sea level.

The work of opening the ‘track’ through Olangchunggala to Serap Bagar was done by a Chinese construction company. A track was opened in a 35 km area from the border of Nepal and China towards Nepal.

Amindra Khadka, head of North South (Moolghat-Dobhan-Olangchungola) road project, said that the track that was opened from Sunsari’s Chatra to Nepal was connected to the track that was opened by China last Tuesday evening.

From Tiptala Pass, the source of the Tamor River, through Mulghat in Dhankuta, the road built along the banks of the Tamor connects with India. Project chief Khadka said that the track of the road operated under the North South (Moolghat-Dobhan-Olangchungola) road project has been opened. According to the project, the road construction was done by SBA Elite JV of Kathmandu.

Taplejung headquarters is not only Fungling, but with the opening of this road track, Koshi province is connected with the neighboring country China to the north by a road network. SBA Elite took the contract to open the track from Tapethok to Olangchungola for 44 crores. The construction company said that the track was opened exactly six years after the work started from Tapethok. According to the construction company, there is a plan to repair the open track up to Tiptala crossing by installing six machines and leave from Taplejung in May.

Moolghat-Dobhan-Olangchungola road is 230 km from Chatra in Sunsari to Olangchungola. The distance from Olangchungola to Tiptala crossing is 24 km. The length of Tamor Corridor is 254 km. Sunsari’s Chatra is 51 km away from Jogwani, the border crossing that is connected to Biratnagar, the capital of Koshi province.
The construction of Tamor Corridor was started in 2065. In the year 2067, this road was declared a priority project of national pride and the construction was started. Tasi Sherpa, a ward member of Paktanglung Rural Municipality-7, Olongchugola, said that Olongchungola residents were excited as the road network connected with China.
Even if the road is connected, it will take some time to maintain the track that was opened from China, said Cheten Lama, the ward chairman of Paktanglung Rural Municipality-7, Olangchugola. Chairman Lama said that with the completion of Olangchungola road, a significant influx of domestic and foreign tourists is expected in the coming new year.
