Lumbini. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha has said that Lumbini is not only the birthplace of Buddha but also the birthplace of Buddhist philosophy.
While inaugurating the World Peace Conference for Prosperity organized by the Organization of Unpaid Consuls (HCCN) here on Thursday, Foreign Minister Shrestha said that the teachings of Buddha and Lumbini conveyed a message for peace in the world. He emphasized on the establishment of world peace and said that the increasing conflicts in different countries of the world are increasing other problems along with the economic crisis.
Stating that Lumbini is the best place to discuss issues of peace and prosperity, HCCN appreciated it for organizing the conference here. Foreign Minister Shrestha recalled that United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres visited Lumbini four months ago and expressed his belief that following the teachings of Lord Buddha would help in establishing world peace.
The non-resident ambassadors of Austria, Bulgaria, Estonia, Czech Republic, Mauritius, Mongolia, Indonesia, Seychelles, Tanzania, Serbia, Slovenia, Cyprus, Ireland, Spain, Latvia, Costa Rica, Poland and Dominican Republic Romania are participating in the conference. Investment opportunities in Nepal, tourism promotion, international importance of Lumbini and other topics will be discussed in the conference.
