Cryptocurrency thefts on the rise around the world

Kathmandu. Cryptocurrency theft is on the rise around the world. According to a report released by blockchain research company TRM Labs, hackers stole 1.38 billion worth of cryptocurrency in the first half of this year.

During the period from January 1 to June 24 of this year, that amount of cryptocurrency was stolen. This size of the theft is double compared to the same period of last year. During the same period last year, 657 million dollars worth of cryptocurrency was stolen around the world.

Like last year, this year too, most cryptos have been taken away by a few hackers who can be counted on the fingers. Five hackers took 70 percent of the cryptocurrencies stolen in the first half of this year, according to the report. The biggest crypto heist this year was the theft of more than $300 million worth of Bitcoin from Japanese crypto exchange DMM.

Hackers are said to have stolen private keys. In this, hackers send a small amount of crypto from a wallet with an address that looks similar to the user’s. And the user bows down and sends the money to his wallet to that wallet. In the first half of this year, the price of crypto currency increased. It is estimated that this may have increased the theft.
