30,000 employees of Samsung on indefinite strike

Seoul. 30,000 workers at the South Korean electronics company Samsung’s factory have gone on an indefinite strike. The employee union has announced a strike demanding salary and other facilities from Tuesday.

The National Samsung Electronics Union (NSEU) made this announcement on the last day of the three-day general strike. The union said that they were forced to take this decision because the management was not ready to negotiate on their demands.
In a statement released on the union’s website, it is said, “Since the company has shown no intention to negotiate even after the first general strike, we call for a second indefinite general strike from July 10.” NSEU represents a quarter of the workers employed at Samsung Electronics in South Korea.
The union said the strike had disrupted production. But Samsung has denied this claim. Last month, the union went on strike in the company for the first time. This is the first time in the nearly 55-year history of the company. Agency
