Nepal Festival 2024′ completed, more than five thousand Nepalis participated

Kathmandu. The ‘Nepal Festival 2024’ has been completed for the first time at Ken Williams Square in Brampton, Canada, presented by Laliguras Sports and Cultural Club.

More than five thousand Nepalis participated in the one-day festival held on July 7, i.e. June 23 under the main sponsorship of Shelton Mortgage Canada and Liam Food Canada.

Cultural Department Head GR Bhandari informed that the participants of the festival preferred Nepali music, Nepali costumes, handicrafts, and Nepali food.

The participation of Nepalis in this festival has encouraged us. The attendance was double what we expected. We feel that you are missing Nepal abroad.

We will continue this next year at the same time. The first time it was organized, there were some limitations, next time we will make it even grander. When you come to the festival, you feel that you are in Nepal,” said Bhandari.

The festival, which has free entry, presented lakhs of dances with tableaus from various communities including Newar, Gurung, Tamang, Sherpa, Tharu, Madhesi and others.

Along with singer Himal Sagar, artists Devika KC, Mansingh Khadka, Himalayan Vives Band and many other local artists enthralled the festival participants with their performances.

The singer sang his famous songs at Himal Sagar Festival. He said that it was a special feeling to be able to give a presentation to the Nepali people in Canada.

Words cannot express the love and sense of belonging found in travel. The love shown for Nepali music and Nepali music at the festival is amazing. It seems that such festivals have done the job of erasing Nepali people who are living in migration, even if it is a little bit, said singer Himal.

The Nepali Ambassador to Canada, Bharatraj Paudel, was present as the chief guest at the festival held under the chairmanship of Laliguras Sports and Cultural Club’s Krizal Adhikari.

The club’s general secretary Virkh Khadka gave a welcome speech and the event was attended by Brampton South MP Sonia Sidhu, Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown, Brampton Councilor Rod Power, NRN Canada Vice President Kiroj Shrestha and others.

Organizers said that the festival, which was held in collaboration with all the Nepali organizations in Canada, has succeeded in promoting Nepali art and culture as well as increasing the closeness among Nepali people.

The official program at the festival was conducted by club spokesperson Bhumiraj Ghimire and cultural program by GR Bhandari.
