Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has said the current government is eager to hand over power to an elected administration, stressing that the cabinet was formed to fill a constitutional vacuum rather than to pursue personal interests.

Speaking at the inaugural session of a provincial-level security seminar organized in Bhairahawa by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law of Lumbini Province, Minister Aryal said the government is fully focused on fulfilling its mandated responsibilities.

“This government was not formed at anyone’s mercy. We didn’t come with expectations, nor out of personal desire,” Aryal said. “The country’s unique situation and the vacuum demanded a special responsibility, and we came to serve that. We have no personal ambitions or greed. We are focused, with Arjuna-like precision, on completing the responsibilities assigned to us. That is why we are eager to prepare a strong foundation of good governance and hand over power to an elected government.”

He acknowledged that the current relative calm and stability in the country is the result of the continuous efforts of all actors involved in maintaining law and order.

Clarifying the government’s priorities, Aryal said promoting good governance and successfully conducting elections remain at the core of the administration’s mandate.

“We are working with this as our guiding principle. Some claim that elections will not happen, or cannot be held, but such statements are merely for public consumption,” he said. “The government will respond through its actions and performance, as it has been doing.”

Minister Aryal also warned that if political actors fail to correct their working style, even after being questioned by the younger generation, future crises could emerge.

“If we continue blaming one another, justifying wrong as right based on convenience, and refusing to correct ourselves, we cannot rule out another major setback,” he said, urging all stakeholders to act responsibly when expressing their views.

Calling the security seminar an important step toward election preparedness, Aryal said it would help assess security challenges within Lumbini Province and shape strategies for a free, fair and peaceful electoral process.

“This seminar is one among several steps we are taking for a fearless, impartial and peaceful election,” he said. “We aim to synthesize Lumbini’s security challenges, outline necessary strategies and complete all required preparations for the polls.”
