Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, PTI has announced protests outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail today Pakistan’s jailed ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan remains unreachable to party leaders and even his family. The government has imposed a ban on public gatherings and restricted visitation rights, heightening concern about Khan’s condition.  Authorities have enforced Section 144 in Islamabad and Rawalpindi as rumours about Imran Khan’s health and even his death continue to circulate. PTI leader Asad Qaiser said opposition lawmakers from both houses will gather outside the High Court before marching to Adiala jail. He said protests were necessary because the High Court orders were not being implemented and the jail administration was not cooperating.
The conflict grew last week when the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister staged a sit-in outside Adiala jail. He had been denied a meeting with Khan for the eighth time. Khan’s family has also been barred from seeing him for several weeks. Adiala jail officials have rejected all rumours and said he has not been moved from the prison. They said he is in good health and receiving complete medical attention. Jail authorities called the health-related rumours baseless.
Imran Khan has been in prison since August 2023. He faces multiple corruption and terrorism cases after his ouster through a no-trust vote in 2022. PTI has demanded that the government clarify Khan’s status and arrange a meeting between him and his family.
