Kathmandu. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has opened applications for Nepali films in the ‘Foreign Language Film’ category at the 97th Academy Awards (The Oscars).
The event will be held on March 2nd, Sunday. A request letter has been received from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to inform the ‘Foreign Language Film Selection Committee (Nepal)’ to select an excellent film that meets all the criteria set by the Academy and recommend it as a competing film in the competition for Nepali films to participate in the award competition. is And all the Nepali movie directors and producers who want to join the 97th Oscar Awards competition are invited to register at the secretariat of this committee.
Films screened in public between November 1, 2023 (2080 Kartik 15) and September 30, 2024 (2081 Oct 14) will be eligible to compete for the 97th Academy Awards. 2024 September 12th i.e. 2081 Bhadra 27th must be registered in the secretariat of this committee within 5 o’clock.
Censored certificate along with the application, certificate of same if not released in hall but released in licensed OTT, 35mm or 70mm video or packaged video in 24-48 frames, i.e. video with projector resolution between 2048 to 1080 pixels, 5.1 or 7 .1 available audio, director, producer, cast, etc., as well as a list of all technicians (credit titles in the order shown in the cinema), English language subtitles, English language brief synopsis of the film, director’s filmography and photo, 3 to 5 stills from the respective film, film should be sent.
A poster at the time of release, a digital copy of all the above-mentioned details including cuttings of news and media advertisements proving that the film has been screened in theaters for more than seven days at the time of screening of the film Academy Awards (The Oscars), Foreign Language Film Selection Committee (Nepal), mentioned in the notice published by Kathmandu.
The ‘Foreign Language Film Selection Committee (Nepal)’ for the 97th Academy Awards (The Oscar Awards) has five members under the chairmanship of filmmaker Raju KC, cinematographer Manju Kumar Shrestha, filmmaker and photographer Gautam Dhimal, journalist and writer Jeevan Parajuli, filmmaker and artist Topendra Beast. And the secretary is production designer Ritika Bhattarai.
The members of the Foreign Language Film Selection Committee, including the Chairman, can serve for six years (consecutive or cumulative). After six years, a mandatory two-year break is required to stay in the committee again.
