Kathmandu. Australia has won the ICC U-19 World Cup cricket title. Australia won the title by defeating India by 79 runs in the final match at Willomoor Park in South Africa on Sunday.
Chasing the target of 254 runs given by Australia, India got all out after scoring 174 runs in 5 balls in 43 overs. For him, Adarsh Singh scored 47 runs, Murugan Abhishek scored 42 runs and Musir Khan scored 22 runs.
On the bowling side, Mahli Beardman and Raf McMillan took 3-3 each and Calum Widral took 2 wickets, Charles Anderson and Tom Straker took 1-1 wicket each.
Before that, Australia scored 253 runs losing 7 wickets in the scheduled 50 overs. For Australia, Harjas Singh scored 55, Harry Dixon scored 42, Captain Hugh Webgen scored 48, Oliver Peak scored 46 not out.
On the bowling side, India’s Raj Limbani took 3 wickets, Naman Tiwari took 2 wickets, Soumya Pandey and Musir Khan took 1 wicket each.
With the title, Australia has succeeded in winning the title for the fourth time in the U-19 World Cup. Earlier, India had won the title in 1988, 2002, 2010.
India defeated South Africa in the semi-final and Australia defeated Pakistan by 1 wicket to reach the final. Nepal was eliminated from the Super Six through the group stage.
