Close on the heels of defeating the World Champions England, Bangladesh scored an emphatic victory in the third and final ODI against Ireland at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Thursday. The victory at Sylhet wrapped up the 3 match ODI series in favour of Bangladesh 2-0. The second game of the series was washed out due to rain.
Pace bowlers of Bangladesh dismissed the Ireland team at 101 in 28.1 overs. Hasan Mahmud impressed with his bowling by claiming 5 wickets for 32 while Taskin Ahmed gave a credible performance dismissing 3 for 36 and Ebadot Hossain snapped up 2 for 29 to send the Ireland team tottering more than 20 overs before the allotted 50 overs.
It was a cake-walk for Bangladesh. They reached the winning score in just 13.1 overs powered by the 50 off 38 balls and skipper Tanim Iqbal’s 41 off 41 balls.
Winning the toss, Ireland decided to bat but none of its batters could stand before the pace attack of Bangladesh. Only two batters, Curtis and Tucker could reach a two digit score in the entire team.
Bangladesh had won the first ODI with 183 runs which was its largest ever victory. In the second match, washed away by rain, Bangladesh scored 349-6 which was their highest ODI score against any team.
