In Brazil, elections are being held today to choose the new President, a third of the Federal Senate, and all members of the 513 Chamber of Deputies along with 27 governors and state legislatures. There are total 11 candidates are in the fray for the post of President but the main contenders are former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and incumbent Jair Bolsonaro. Two polls released yesterday showed Lula with a majority of valid votes, which would mean outright victory, avoiding a bruising runoff. The result of the elections will be declared today within hours after the conclusion of the polls. If no candidates in the elections for President and Governors receive more than 50% of the votes, there will be runoffs on October 30.
