Construction of the footpath connecting Tilicho Lake, which is the highest place in the world

Myagdi. The footpath connecting Tilicho Lake, which is the highest place in the world, from Mustang has been built and upgraded.

With the help of Gharapzhong Rural Municipality and Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Area Protection Office Jomsom, about 23 km of footpaths have been constructed and upgraded from Thini of Gharapzhong Rural Municipality. The footpaths have been constructed in different places from the budget of two titles of the rural municipality and ACAP.

In the financial year 2080/81, Gharpazhong rural municipality allocated a budget of Rs.50 lakhs under two headings, ACAP has also spent Rs.10 lakhs for the repair and upgrading of the footpath connecting Tilicho Lake. Sharmila Shrees, the employment coordinator of Gharapzhong rural municipality informed that 22 km of footpaths have been built in different places of Ward No. 4 and 5 from the budget of Rs. 21 lakh 49 thousand and additional budget of Rs.

’14-14 unemployed youths from two wards were mobilized in the construction of footpaths’, he said, ‘Four feet wide footpaths have been made in narrow and dangerous places so that they can easily move around.’

Jhorkholabat-Namkhulek Khark-Nilgiri Icefall-Chhama Lake access road has been constructed and upgraded to Sochilek, employment coordinator Shri said. Ranger Sanjok Thakali informed that 950 meters old footpath has been repaired and 600 meters new footpath has been constructed in the Merokondo pass area at an altitude of 5,120 meters through ECAP.

Ranger Thakali said that this trail, which can be reached and returned to Tilicho in a maximum of three days via Jomsom-Thani, is a short trail to reach this lake, which is considered to be the highest place in the world at an altitude of 4,999 meters above sea level.

The natural beauty of Tilicho Lake, Nilgiri Himalayas, Namkhu Lake, Snow Leopard habitat, Dhumba Lake, Harzhu View Point, Thinigaon, Historical Gharfzhong Fort, Kaishang Camp, Thakali Art and Culture, Vedachhangra and Chawri Goth are the attractions of this trek.

Similarly, this year in Mustang, footpaths have been constructed and upgraded in six places, including connecting Tilicho lake, with the budget of Rs.27 lakh, 32,509.
Consumers have donated labor worth Rs 1 lakh 32 thousand.

5 and 5.5 million in the budget of Thasang Rural Municipality, 450 meters of the Ghaiku-Missi-Leyte-Kalopani footpaths have been repaired and 65 meters of footpaths have been constructed in Chokhopani area and 55 gavion walls have been constructed. The footpath has been repaired by placing two slabs and 12 gavion boxes in Sauru Sirkung-Tagmi-Furatami area with a budget of Rs.1 lakh.

After the construction of Jomsom-Kagbeni-Muktinath road, a 2,179-meter Muktinath-Luprakhola footpath of Waragung Muktikshetra Rural Municipality has been constructed and a 7,19-meter footpath has been constructed on the way to Mustang after crossing the 5,400-meter Thorangla Jhanjyang through Manang.
