Death toll from floods and landslides reaches 148

he number of fatalities due to the continuous rainfall that started on Thursday has reached 148. According to the police headquarters, the death toll stood at 148 as of Sunday afternoon.

Most of the deceased were victims of flooding, landslides, and inundation that occurred on Saturday. Following the heavy rainfall, 35 people lost their lives in the Jhyaple Khola in Ward No. 9 of Dhunibesi Municipality, Dhading.

Similarly, 48 deaths have been reported in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur. The police also reported that 55 people are still missing, and 101 individuals have been injured.

Search operations for the missing are ongoing, and efforts are being made to enhance rescue operations, according to the police. More than 3,600 people trapped in floods and landslides have been rescued.

Additionally, the police stated that various roads have been blocked due to the heavy rainfall, and efforts are underway to clear them.
