The Election Commission (EC) is set to publish the list of candidates for the House of Representatives (HoR) election today. The list will include candidates who registered their nomination papers on Tuesday, according to the Commission.

Following the completion of the nomination process on Tuesday evening, the Commission received complaints against candidates on Wednesday. Complaints related to candidates’ eligibility were accepted between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm.

The Commission said it is preparing to publish the list after completing the investigation into the complaints registered by Wednesday evening. As per the election schedule, the list of candidates will be made public between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm today.

Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations on Friday, January 23, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The final list of candidates will be published the same day between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm, while election symbols will be allotted between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm.

According to the Commission, a total of 3,486 candidates have registered their nominations so far, including 3,089 men, 396 women, and one third-gender candidate.

The House of Representatives election is being held before the completion of the current parliamentary term following the Gen-Z movement. The interim government led by Sushila Karki has scheduled the election for March 5.

A total of 18,903,689 voters will participate in the election, including 9,663,358 men, 9,240,131 women, and 200 voters listed under other categories.
