EU chief proposes extra 9 billion euros aid to Ukraine

European Union chief Ursula von der Leyen today proposed an extra nine billion euros aid to Ukraine this year to help it cope with the ravages of war. Speaking in a broadcast statement, von der Leyen said it is time to think about rebuilding Ukraine whenever the war ends. She also said that the European Union has a strategic interest in leading the reconstruction effort.
