Former Russian President Medvedev Visits China

Beijing. Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev visited Beijing this week for talks with leaders of Moscow’s key partners. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China informed about this on Wednesday.
“Medvedev’s visit to China is an important high-level exchange of views between China and Russia,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a regular press conference.
Mao did not provide further details about the itinerary or meetings scheduled for the former president, who is also deputy head of the Russian Security Council. This is Medvedev’s first visit to China since December 2022, and during the visit, he will meet and discuss with senior officials of the Chinese government, before he left for Beijing, the Russian official news agency Tas reported.
Ever since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched an all-out attack on neighboring Ukraine in February 2022, China has been trying to present itself as a neutral side in contrast to the US and other Western nations. China has been Russia’s closest political and economic partner, with some NATO member states portraying Beijing as an “instigator” of the war. Beijing has never condemned the invasion of Ukraine. Medvedev has a limited role in C political system. Agency
