I am ready to resign for peace or NATO membership’: Zelensky

Kyiv- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that he is ready to give up the presidency for the sake of peace in Ukraine. He also said that he is ready to negotiate with the US regarding the resources of Ukraine.
Speaking to reporters at the Year 2025 Forum in the capital Kyiv on Sunday, Zelensky said Ukraine needed support from both Europe and the United States.
Zelensky said, ‘If it is for peace in Ukraine or for NATO membership, I am ready for that. If you want me to resign, I am ready for that. But it means we get peace and we get NATO membership as a security guarantee and if our conditions are met, I will step down immediately.’
A meeting of the leaders of the European countries is scheduled to take place in Ukraine from Monday. In response to a question about this, he said that some difficult decisions will have to be made there. He said, “The leaders will discuss their strategy for the coming year, not weeks. They will also talk about the security guarantee for Ukraine.
Recently, US President Donald Trump said that he will negotiate with Russia in Saudi Arabia to stop the Russia-Ukraine war. The date of the talks has not yet been announced, but the US has not yet invited Ukraine to it.
Zelensky has said that it is important to include Ukraine in any discussion to stop the war. Apart from him, many European countries also said that along with Ukraine, Europe should be included in such talks.
Zelensky also stated that his concern is about security guarantees. After the deal, he wants a guarantee that Russia will not invade Ukraine in the future.
Speaking about the meeting of the European countries to be held on Monday, he said that if there are differences between the European countries, it will look like an unhappy family.
He said, “This is war, not child’s play. We need partnership, we need cooperation, but we cannot lose our independence and we cannot lose our dignity.’
