Kathmandu. International Cricket Association (ICC) has given ICC Development Award to 6 countries including Nepal.
ICC has today awarded the ICC Development Award to Nepal, Oman, Netherlands, UAE, Mexico and Scotland. The ICC gives awards to encourage the programs carried out by the ICC Associate Members for the development of the game of cricket. Started in 2002, the ICC Awards are given to encourage the expansion of cricket in associate countries. The ICC Digital Fan Engagement of the Year Award has been announced by the ICC.
Earlier, Nepal had received the award of Asia region in this category. On Wednesday, ICC announced that Nepal has also received the Global Award in this category. According to ICC, Nepal’s fanbase has reached more than 400 percent on social media including Facebook.
Because of this, ICC says that Nepali cricket has been promoted among the audience in the country and outside the country. Similarly, the Mexican Cricket Association was given the Development Initiative of the Year award. Oman Cricket received the 100% Cricket Women’s Cricket Initiative of the Year for its Cricket-for-Every programme.
