Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been disqualified from the membership of the Lok Sabha a day after a court in Gujarat convicted him in a criminal defamation case.
According to the notification issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, Mr Gandhi stands disqualified from the Lower House from the date of his conviction that is the 23rd March. The notification states that the decision has been taken consequent upon Mr Gandhi’s conviction by the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate at Surat in Gujarat.
