India & Nepal’s governments successfully undertook 75 projects under India-Nepal Development Cooperation since April 2022 till date to commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations

To commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Nepal, the governments of both countries have successfully undertaken 75 projects under India-Nepal Development Cooperation since April 2022 till date. This includes 48 post-earthquake Reconstruction projects that were inaugurated today.
Ambassador of India in Nepal Navin Shrivastava stressed on neighbourhood first policy and highlighted the commitment to maintaining friendly relations between India and Nepal which are marked by the separate budget head for aid to Nepal. Post-earthquake of 2015, India was the first one to offer aid to its neighbour by pledging USD 1 billion for the reconstruction programme.

Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal Narayan Kaji Shrestha thanked Indian Government for the grant and line of credit towards developmental projects. The first broad-gauge passenger railway Jaynagar-Kurtha Cross-Border Rail Link connecting India and Nepal is an important connectivity project boosting trade and commerce activities as well as people linkages between the two countries.

From Election Vehicle support, development of the energy sector, grant of Ambulances and school buses, disaster relief, conservation of cultural heritage, women empowerment, drinking water treatment plants and support to Nepal’s health sector, more than 530 other high impact community Development Project in form of educational institutes was extended by Government of India.
