Indian Embassy celebrated 76th Republic Day

Kathmandu – The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu celebrated India’s 76th Republic Day today.

The Indian Ambassador to Nepal started the program organized on the occasion of the Republic Day by hoisting the Indian National Flag. On the occasion, he also conveyed his best wishes to the members of the Indian diaspora in Nepal.
In the program, the President of India Mrs. Draupadi Murmu’s address to the nation was broadcast. The program was attended by a large number of members of the Indian community.

The ambassador paid tribute to the wives and next of kin of the deceased soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces by distributing an amount of Rs. Also, Nehru to the wives and next of kin of 219 deceased members of the Indian Armed Forces. This payment includes benefits including death-in-service, extended insurance and AGI maturity payment for the year 2024 under the Army Group Insurance (AGI) program. The Ambassador also launched the Bhupu-2025 magazine, which includes welfare initiatives of the Government of India for ex-servicemen living in Nepal.

The Embassy donated books worth Rs. 23.5 lakh to 29 educational institutions spread across 6 provinces of Nepal. The initiative aims to provide educational materials to students in remote areas, responding to their specific needs and requests.

The top 50 scorers of Nepal in the Know India (BKJ) quiz held from Kartik 26th to Manseer 26th, 2081 were honored by giving certificates of achievement. The BKJ Quiz aims to further enhance the knowledge and understanding of India among foreign nationals and the Indian diaspora.

As part of the award, the top 30 winners of the quiz from around the world were invited to India for a two-week BKJ trip earlier this month. Among the winners was Mr. Nikhil Kumar Das from Nepal, who got the opportunity to be a part of this special trip to India.

In the program, detailed information about the progress made in India-Nepal relations in the previous years was presented through video.
Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center and Kendriya Vidyalaya students also presented a cultural performance in the program at the Embassy of Kathmandu. The program was live-streamed on the Embassy’s social media platforms.
