Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar meets Bhutan’s PM Lotay Tshering

Thimpu: External affairs minister S Jaishankar called on Bhutan’s Prime Minister Lotay Tshering in Thimphu and exchanged views on the current global and regional developments.

Dr Jaishankar also apprised him of the progress in bilateral cooperation, including development partnership.

Dr Jaishankar is on a two-day visit to Bhutan at the invitation of his Bhutanese counterpart Lyonpo Tandi Dorji. Dr Jaishankar is Bhutan’s first high-level visitor from abroad since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country in March 2020.

Earlier, Dr Jaishankar met his Bhutanese counterpart Tandi Dorji. Dr Jaishankar also called on King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. After meeting the King, External Affairs Minister admired his vision of transforming Bhutan and termed it a key aspect in shaping the ‘unique’ partnership with India.
