International summit scheduled to be held in Lumbini postponed

KATHMANDU: The Fourth International Summit of Laureates and Leaders for Children, Development and Peace, scheduled to be held on February 28 and 29 in Lumbini Province, has been postponed.
Chief Minister Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary has called for a meeting of the Council of Ministers to take a formal decision on the postponement of the conference.
Nahkul KC, Vice Chairman of Lumbini Province Planning Commission, said that the Cabinet meeting regarding the postponement of the conference is going to make a formal decision.
Chief Minister Chaudhary said that with the change in the political equation in the federal government, the Lumbini summit was also postponed.
According to the decision of the Lumbini State Government on October 18th and the decision of the Federal Government on October 2nd, the Lumbini State Government was going to hold the ‘Lariats and Leaders International 4th Summit for Children, Development and Peace’ on February 28th and 29th. In the conference, 18 special guests, including 9 Nobel Prize winners, Heads of State, former Prime Ministers of various countries were scheduled to attend the conference.
After the dissatisfaction of the opposition and ruling parties of the state and the change in political events, Chief Minister Choudhary was also reluctant to hold a conference.
The Lumbini state government had announced the current year’s policy program and allocated a budget of 65 million rupees for the conference and passed it in the state assembly.
