Kathmandu. After ending the 15-month-long war, Israel and the rebel group have reached a ceasefire agreement that will come into effect on January 19, i.e., next Sunday.
The British news agency BBC reported that US President Joe Biden confirmed this. It is said that a complete and comprehensive ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and the release of all prisoners held by Hamas are important.
According to Biden, in the first phase, Palestinians will be reunited with their relatives, and more humanitarian aid will be allowed to return home and to the Gaza Strip. Hamas launched an attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. So far, 1,200 people have been killed and 251 people have been taken hostage in Gaza.
Hamas has responded that the attack they launched led to a large-scale Israeli attack on Gaza, during which more than 46,000 Palestinians were killed. Israel has said that 94 prisoners are still with Hamas, of which 34 are presumed dead. Agency
