Kathmandu– Italian legend Gianluigi Buffon is going to come to Nepal. Buffon, who was an important member when Italy won the World Cup in 2006, is about to come to Nepal for the ‘KP Oli Cup’.
Niroj Poudel, the spokesperson of the National Youth Association of Nepal, the organizer of the tournament, confirmed that Buffon will definitely come to Nepal. He said that although Buffon is certain to visit Nepal during the tournament, the time has not been decided.
“Buffon from Italy is coming to Nepal for KP Oli Cup. There are only two days left for the competition to start, so it does not seem possible to come to the opening ceremony. However, he will be present during the competition,” said spokesperson Paudel to Bahrakhari.
According to another high-ranking official of the Youth Association, Buffon is likely to attend the closing ceremony of the tournament. He said that Buffon’s stay in Nepal will last for about a week.
When Italy beat France to win the World Cup in 2006, Buffon was chosen as the best goalkeeper of the tournament. He has represented Italy in 176 internationals. Buffon, who made his debut in international football in 1997, retired in 2018. He retired from professional football in 2023.
