Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko says 53 people injured after Russia targeted Ukrainian capital with ballistic missiles
Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko has said that 53 people have been injured after Russia targeted the Ukrainian capital with ballistic missiles last night. Twenty of them, including two children, were hospitalized as a result of the strikes. Hospitals, schools, kindergartens, morgue and residential buildings were damaged in the attack. The strike on the capital comes a day after the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was in Washington to meet President Joe Biden and US lawmakers in a bid to secure a large tranche of additional emergency funding.
Responding to the overnight attack, President Vlodymyr Zelenskyy posted on X that Russia has proved once again that it is a heinous country that fires missiles at night, trying to hit residential areas, kindergartens, and energy facilities during the winter.
Yesterday’s attack on Kyiv marked the third Russian missile strike on the capital in the past week. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s air force said it had shot down all 10 targets flying towards the city, using anti-aircraft missiles.
