In the grand finale held at Hotel Alft in Thamel on Sunday, Magar beat 20 other competitors and won the title.
54 people participated in the “Mr. Gay Nepal” competition organized by “Mayako pahichan Nepal”. Out of them 20 people were selected.
The title winner Magar became the winner as the last competitor through top ten and top five. He also received the ‘Public Choice Award’ award.
Maya Gurung, president of ‘Mayako pahichan Nepal’, executive director and Asia’s first gay ex-constituent member Sunil Babu Pant, ‘Mr. Gay Handsome’ of 2017 Manil Singh and others presented him with a prize of one lakh rupees along with the crown of ‘Mr. Gay Nepal’.
Magar will also participate in the ‘Mister Gay World’ in Britain, representing Nepal. In the competition, Ashok Koirala was the first runner-up and Naveen JC was the second runner-up.
Both of them were awarded 75,000 and 50,000 rupees respectively along with the title. Similarly, ‘West Dress Award’ Unique Chaudhary, ‘Photogenic Award’ Sunil Tamang, ‘West Work Award’ and ‘West Swim Suit Award’ Dinesh Chaudhary, ‘West Talent Award’ Tika Bahadur Magar, ‘West Discipline Award’ Lasang Dorje Bal, West Personality Award’ was given to Pawan Dhakal and ‘Mr. Congeniality Award’ to Sushil Chand.
Gurung, the president of ‘Identity of Love Nepal’, said that the competition is being held with the aim of representing and advocating for the rights and identity of homosexuals.
As ambassadors to promote rainbow tourism, the title winners will also work for the participation and representation of homosexuals in the tourism sector.
