Love and Lust
A Poem by Alok Kumar Ray
When lust overpowers love
servitude remains in fray
to hankering women, flesh in all.
A slight difference,
like a tiny thread
exists between them.
Sometimes it is visible,
in other times wraps
in blurred values
undistinguishable, unfathomable.
Emotional eruption
when rides the ladder
perfumes of exotica
favors the most
notwithstanding the inner call
so judicious but seems
vague and voluminous.
Alluvial deposits benefit
so also love, affection
and belonging.
When obsession reigns over
from all fronts instantly
decency churns into pieces
and like a broken mirror
it reflects showcasing
instinct of an animal.
Love between a child and mother
and love at the old age
amongst a loving couple
preserves love in its
pure form, transparent
very soothing,
free from malice and taints.
Conjugal loyalty very often
fails the test of love
so simple but in ample
that possess magical prowess
to overcome rough terrain
that it habitually browses.
