Kathmandu: The construction of a power transmission line to the border of India from Sunuwal of the Nawalparasi (West) district, under the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), is being inaugurated today.

Finance Minister Rameshwor Prasad Khanal and Ambassador of United States to Nepal Dean Richard Thompson are scheduled to jointly inaugurate the construction of the transmission line from the New Butwal Substation located in Sunwal-13 Suryabasti this afternoon. An 18-kilometer transmission line will be constructed from Sunuwal to the Indian border under the project.

Under the 315-kilometer-long transmission line starting from Lapsiphedi, 102 towers will be constructed for the 33-kilometer transmission line in Nawalparasi.

Of which, 54 towers will be constructed over a total length of 18.2 kilometers from the substation in Sunuwal Suryabasti to Palhinandan.

MCA Nepal said that the distribution of compensation is in the final stage. The work on the transmission line from Nawalparasi under the MCC project is about to begin.
