Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin have met. Modi and Putin, who arrived in Moscow on Monday, met at the presidential residence in Novo Ogariova.
Before meeting Putin, Modi had reached the hotel. At that time, the Indians who gathered on the streets welcomed Modi. Even when Modi reached the hotel, the Indians there shouted slogans saying ‘Modi Modi’. During the informal meeting at the President’s residence, Putin himself drove an electric van and gave Modi a tour.
In the bilateral talks between Modi and Putin, further strengthening of the friendly relations between India and Russia will be discussed. In addition, current international and regional issues will also be discussed.
Modi arrived in Russia as the war between Ukraine and Russia continues. Western countries, including America, have imposed sanctions against Russia. However, India has not held Russia directly responsible for the Ukraine war. India is buying fuel with Russia and lately it has been giving importance to other trades as well. In such a situation, the meeting between Modi and Putin is viewed with importance. Modi will go to Austria after Moscow.
