A total of 64 political parties have registered to participate in the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5, 2026. According to the Election Commission (EC), eight parties registered on Monday alone.

The EC reported that 56 parties had registered by Sunday, and Monday’s additions brought the total to 64. The registration deadline for parties wishing to take part in the election is November 26.

On Monday, the following parties submitted their applications: Nagarik Shakti Nepal, Nagarik Unmukti Party, Miteri Party Nepal, Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party, Nepal Communist Party (Maoist), Tarai-Madhes Loktantrik Party, Rastriya Samunnati Party, and Janadesh Party Nepal.

The Commission stated that while 135 political parties are currently registered with the EC, all must reapply to participate in the upcoming election by Wednesday.
