The government has authorized the Department of Passport to procure 700,000 units of e-passports for the time being.

A Cabinet meeting held on Friday allowed the Department to move forward with purchasing the e-passports from the current supplier through a variation order until the issuance of e-passports under the new contract begins.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagdish Kharel, shared this information on Friday.
