Nepal imported 38,293 tons of apples worth Rs 4.246 billion during the first five months of the current fiscal year. According to the Department of Customs, this represents a 13.78 percent increase compared to the Rs 3.732 billion spent in the same period last year. The imports generated government revenue of approximately Rs 418 million. The rising volume reflects growing domestic demand for apples, despite fluctuations in import trends in previous years.
