Kathmandu: The House of Representatives (HoR) has elected whip of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC), Pushpa Bhusal to the post of Deputy Speaker. In today’s HoR meeting, a proposal asking for electing Bhusal to the post of Deputy Speaker through electoral process received 148 votes in her favour whereas her close contender Bidya Bhattarai from main opposition CPN-UML secured 93 votes. One voter remained neutral in the process.

There were 242 lawmakers present. One lawmaker abstained from voting. This post was vacant since 2076 Magh after the resignation of the then Dr. Shivamaya Tumbahamphe.
