The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), led by Rabi Lamichhane, and the Bibeksheel Sajha Party, headed by Samiksha Baskota, formally announced their merger.  The unified entity will operate under the name Rastriya Swatantra Party and retain the “bell” as its election symbol.
The Bibeksheel Sajha Party accepted the RSP’s political ideology and leadership structure. Leaders from Bibeksheel Sajha will be incorporated into a federal leadership platform equivalent to Central Committee members until the next general convention.
The unification was sealed with agreements that recognized the contributions of the founder of Bibeksheel Sajha Party, late Ujwal Thapa and the Bibeksheel movement to alternative politics in Nepal. A group of Bibeksheel Sajha Party leaders including Ramesh Paudel and Milan Pandey however did not join the merger process.
